Fairmont State's Reading Enrichment Program
The America / FSU Reads program is preparing for the presentation of its reading enrichment program. Because of construction on Fairmont State’s campus, the sessions will be held at Faith United Methodist Church on the corner of Fairmont Ave. and Fourth St. The sessions will begin on February 27 and continue each Tuesday afternoon through April 17 from 4:00 to 5:00. Fairmont State students under the direction of Donna Yergovich Nuzum, coordinator, and Conni Bolen, assistant, have just completed an intense workshop/training period, working diligently to make this a totally successful reading experience for students in kindergarten through fourth grade. During the sessions, the elementary students will hear stories, play vocabulary games, and complete writing/art projects. This program is presented to enhance a child’s love of reading. Although it is not a tutoring session, emphasis is placed on good reading practices. A major goal of America/FSC Reads is to assist the children in developing self esteem and embracing diversity. To register children, please contact Cathy Woodson. You may register by phone at 367-4579 (leave info on answering machine) or email nwoodson@mail.fscwv.edu.
